This is my 11th year of teaching at Wacoochee/Smiths Station Junior High. I have taught both 7th and 8th grade, and taught Pre-AP Life Science for the last 2 years. During my first year I received the "Rookie Award" for being the outstanding first-year teacher at WJHS. I have been named a Lighthouse Model Teacher, I received the 2005-2006 Teacher of the Year Award, and also have received a Top Teacher Headliner Award. During my time here, I have also received awards for teamwork, use of technology, and community service, and received several grants from the ARISE Foundation. I am also designated as a Highly Qualified Teacher in the state of Alabama.
I LOVE teaching junior high school students. I think that 7th and 8th graders are lots of fun and I enjoy having the opportunity to get to know and teach them.

I teach 7th grade Pre-AP Life Science at Smiths Station Junior High School. I am also the Science Department Head, the school Webmaster, and I oversee the school's Awards Ceremony in the spring.
I live in Phenix City with my husband of 9 years, Gary, our 5 year old daughter Kate (who is in kindergarden at East Smiths Station Elementary), and our daughter Anna, who was born in February . During my free time, I enjoy shopping, arts and crafts, reading (I love the Harry Potter series), watching TV (my favorite shows include Bones, Castle, Fringe, Community and 30 Rock), listening to music (alternative - Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Counting Crows, The Killers, Muse, Death Cab for Cutie, just to name a few), and playing video games (I love Guitar Hero, Wii Sports, Animal Crossing and anything Mario).
